Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does insurance coverage work when a CallMe DD | Designated Driver operates my vehicle?

In Ontario, auto insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver. This means your vehicle’s existing insurance policy is the primary coverage when our designated driver operates your car.

  • If you give permission (consent) for our driver to operate your vehicle, your policy’s liability, accident benefits, and physical damage coverage (if purchased) generally extend to that driver.

  • This is called “permissive use” under the Ontario Automobile Policy (OAP 1).

  • However, coverage is subject to your policy terms, conditions, and exclusions.

Q: Why do I need to sign a waiver and consent form?

Before we drive your vehicle, you must:

  1. Provide consent for our driver to operate your car.

  2. Sign a waiver and agree to our Terms of Service.

This ensures we comply with Ontario law, clearly define responsibilities, and confirm you understand that your insurance policy responds first in the event of a claim.

Q: What type of insurance does CallMe DD | Designated Drivers carry?

  • Our company vehicles (chase/support cars) and business property: Fully insured under commercial auto and business liability policies.

  • Subcontractors’ personal vehicles: Insured under their own auto policies while commuting to and from service locations.

  • When we drive your vehicle: Your vehicle’s Ontario auto insurance policy is primary coverage. CallMeDD Inc itself does not issue or activate insurance for unknown third-party vehicles.

Q: Why can’t CallMeDD Inc provide instant insurance on my car?

Under Ontario’s insurance system, every owner is legally required to insure their own vehicle before it can be driven on public roads. It is not possible for CallMeDD Inc to instantly bind coverage on an unknown vehicle we do not own.

That’s why your vehicle must already carry valid insurance before we operate it.

Q: What happens if there’s an accident?

  • Your insurance policy responds first (liability, accident benefits, and optional coverages like collision/comprehensive).

  • If applicable, CallMeDD’s business liability insurance may provide secondary coverage for certain circumstances.

  • We fully cooperate with insurers during the claims process.
